backupxo
Backups, restores and a data browser for MySQL and MariaDB.
Scheduled dumps that stream straight from the database into zstd and then into your own S3-compatible bucket. Nothing is written to a temp file, so a 50 GB database needs a few hundred megabytes of memory, not a disk twice its size. Restore with one click, to the same server or another one.
What it does
- Streaming dump to zstd to multipart S3 upload, no temp files
- Cron presets or expressions, retention by count or age
- One-click restore to the same server, another server or a new database name
- Works with AWS S3, Cloudflare R2, MinIO, Backblaze B2 and Wasabi
- Built-in data browser with inline edits and a SQL console
- Telegram alerts for failed, partial or unreachable backups

Streaming a 50 GB MariaDB dump into R2 with a few hundred megabytes of RAM
backupxo never writes a dump to disk. Here is the pipeline from mariadb-dump to zstd to a multipart upload, and the two things that went wrong on the way.
